The Kano Development Forum (KDF) has credited the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, with playing a central role in driving Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s “Kano First” agenda, describing his communication strategy as a catalyst for greater public trust and citizen engagement.

The group said Waiya’s stewardship of the Ministry of Information has transformed how government policies and programmes are communicated, ensuring that residents remain informed about the administration’s achievements across critical sectors.

In a statement signed by its State Coordinator, Dr. T. A. Ibrahim, KDF said the commissioner’s proactive media engagement has amplified the government’s developmental strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare and security while strengthening transparency and accountability.

According to the forum, the consistent dissemination of accurate and timely information has bridged the gap between the government and the people, encouraging wider public participation in governance.

The group maintained that Waiya has emerged as one of the key figures translating Governor Yusuf’s vision into a message that resonates with citizens, making the “Kano First” agenda more visible and accessible across the state.

KDF further stated that Kano’s growing reputation for open governance is closely linked to the administration’s communication approach, praising Waiya for combining professionalism with a people-focused style that has reinforced confidence in government.

The forum concluded that as Governor Yusuf’s development agenda gathers momentum, Waiya’s contributions will remain an enduring part of the administration’s legacy, describing him as a communication strategist whose work has helped shape the narrative of a new Kano.
