Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has inspected the ongoing upgrade of the Katsina State Television Authority (KTTV) to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
The upgrade project includes the installation of a 5KW main transmitter, a 3.2KW standby transmitter, and a 30KVA solar-powered backup system aimed at enhancing the station’s broadcasting capacity.
The Governor was conducted round the facility by the General Manager of KTTV, Abba Zayyan, who briefed him on the progress of work and the major components of the project.
Speaking during the inspection, Governor Radda described the visit as a preliminary assessment to evaluate the level of progress and the quality of work being carried out.
He expressed satisfaction with the standard of equipment installed, noting that the modern facilities would significantly improve transmission capacity across the state.
“From what we have seen, the quality of equipment installed is commendable and meets modern broadcasting requirements. This will greatly improve our transmission capacity and service delivery,” the Governor stated.
Governor Radda also commended the technical team for their dedication and professionalism in executing the project.
“I must commend the engineers and technical team for the level of commitment and professionalism demonstrated in the execution of this project,” he added.
During the visit, the Governor toured key sections of the station, including Studio One, the transmitter room, and the second studio, where he observed ongoing installations and upgrades.
He also undertook a comprehensive inspection of the entire premises, carrying out a full assessment of the facility and its surroundings.
The Governor stressed the need for a complete renovation of the station to meet modern broadcasting standards and fully maximize the benefits of the digital upgrade.
“What is worth doing is worth doing well. This station needs a complete transformation to ensure it meets the demands of modern broadcasting,” he said.
He emphasized that the upgrade should serve as a turning point for KTTV, positioning it to become more efficient, competitive, and commercially viable.
“This digital upgrade must mark a turning point for KTTV. It should reposition the station to be more efficient, competitive, and commercially viable,” the Governor added.
Governor Radda further noted that, given the level of investment committed to the project, the station must begin to generate revenue and contribute meaningfully to the economic development of Katsina State.

Earlier, the General Manager of the Television Authority Abba Zayyan highlighted the progress recorded so far, while the project partner from DM Broadcast, Mr. Marco, provided detailed explanations of the installed digital equipment and its operational capacity.
“So far, we have achieved significant milestones in the installation of key digital broadcasting equipment, and the system is designed to meet global standards,” the project partner explained.
