Governor Radda Expresses Shock Over Sudden Death of Katsina United Player Ozoh Chinedu

Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed shock and deep sadness over the sudden death of Ozoh Chinedu, a newly signed player of Katsina United Football Club and former Kano Pillars FC player.

Ozoh reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday, August 11, 2026, after he was rushed to K-Dara Specialist Hospital, Katsina, following a medical emergency during a pre-season friendly match between Katsina United and Niger Tornadoes FC at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Governor Radda described the death as tragic and painful, coming at a time when the young footballer was preparing for the new season with Katsina United.

“The sudden death of Ozoh Chinedu is deeply shocking and heartbreaking. It is particularly painful that a young footballer with a promising career has lost his life at such a time,” the Governor said.

He commiserated with the deceased’s family, Katsina United FC, his teammates, coaches, management and supporters, Kano Pillars FC, and the entire football community over the loss.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Katsina State, I extend our condolences to the family of Ozoh Chinedu, Katsina United FC, his teammates, coaches, management, supporters, Kano Pillars FC and the entire football community,” Governor Radda added.
