……”APC Is My Home; Our Concern Should Be How to Win Elections and Ensure Its Success,” Mustapha Inuwa Assures
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has welcomed the return of former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Dr. Mustapha M. Inuwa, to the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a major boost to the party’s unity and strength ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking on Sunday at the Zawiyyah Foundation Grand Reception for Dr. Inuwa at Capital Hall, Katsina, Governor Radda said politics must be driven by public service, responsibility and commitment to the people, rather than personal gain.
Radda noted that his political relationship with Dr. Inuwa spans more than three decades and has endured across different political eras and platforms, including the administration of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Inuwa’s leadership of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) in Katsina in 2011.
“Politics should ultimately be about service to the people and not personal enrichment. The people have become politically conscious and they can assess the intentions, records and contributions of those seeking their support,” Governor Radda said.
The Governor described Dr. Inuwa as an experienced politician who had remained committed to public affairs over the years, noting that their longstanding relationship was built on shared political experiences and a common desire to contribute to Katsina State’s development.
He said his administration remained focused on delivering tangible development across the state, with programmes and projects targeted at improving the lives of citizens in all 34 local government areas.
Radda said the government was not in conflict with elders or political stakeholders, but remained open to working with those genuinely committed to the progress of the state.
“We know everybody and we understand the political terrain. We are not shaken because we know what we are doing, and we remain focused on delivering for the people of Katsina State,” he said.
The Governor urged APC members to see the party as one political family and avoid actions capable of weakening its collective interests, stressing that unity was essential to protecting the gains recorded by the administration.
“We are ready to do everything possible to strengthen our political family. We will not allow the people of Katsina State to be disappointed because we are committed to implementing projects and programmes that will improve their lives,” he said.
He also called on party members to work collectively towards victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections, from the national level to the grassroots.
Radda assured the Zawiyyah Foundation and other stakeholders of his administration’s continued commitment to improving security, livelihoods and sustainable development across Katsina State, while commending the foundation for promoting political unity and reconciliation.
Earlier, Dr. Mustapha M. Inuwa described the APC as his political home and said his return was part of a political journey spanning decades of experience, struggles, relationships and service to Katsina State.
He traced his political activities to the 1990s and recalled his involvement in various political movements and administrations, including the era of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Inuwa also recalled his longstanding relationship with Governor Radda, which, he said, had evolved through years of political engagement and shared experiences, from Radda’s time as Chief of Staff and later Director-General of the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) to his emergence as Governor.
He said their relationship was founded on mutual understanding, trust and a shared commitment to the development of Katsina State, adding that they remained conscious that political developments ultimately unfold according to Allah’s plan.
Inuwa expressed satisfaction with the support received by the Radda administration across different sectors, saying the recognition from the people reflected the impact of its programmes and interventions.
“We do not have time for anything that will undermine our collective interest. Our concern should be how to win elections and ensure the success of the APC,” he said.
He pledged his full support to Governor Radda and urged APC members to work as one family to strengthen the party from the grassroots to the highest level and sustain the development gains recorded by the administration.
Also speaking, Director-General of the Zawiyyah Foundation, Hon. Hamisu Idris Kofar Bai, said the reception was organised to formally welcome Dr. Inuwa back into the APC and recognise his political experience and contributions to Katsina State.
Kofar Bai highlighted key interventions of the Radda administration, particularly in security, agriculture and grassroots development. He cited the establishment of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps, the Community Development Programme and agricultural support initiatives, including the distribution of fertiliser and other inputs to farmers.
He said the administration’s focus on taking development closer to communities had made a significant impact across the state.
On his part, the State APC Chairman, Hon. Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, traced the political history of Katsina State and acknowledged the contributions of successive leaders and political movements to its development.
Saulawa described the reunion of political leaders within the APC as a positive development, saying the initiative demonstrated the importance of unity, reconciliation and collective responsibility in strengthening the party.
He urged APC members and stakeholders to sustain the spirit of cooperation and unity to consolidate the achievements of the Radda administration and advance the interests of Katsina State.
Similarly, Member Representating Mashi/Dusti Federal Constuency, Hon. Salisu Yusuf Majigiri traced the political evolution of Katsina State and highlighted the contributions of successive administrations and political movements to the state’s development.
The event was attended by the Member representing Dutsinma/Kurfi Federal Constituency, Hon. Aminu Balele; members of the Katsina State Executive Council; senior government officials; local government chairmen; political leaders; and other dignitaries.
