Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has pledged government support to the families of the 10 police officers and other victims killed during a deadly gun battle with terrorists along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area.

Governor Idris made the commitment on Wednesday when a delegation from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, paid him a condolence visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The governor expressed condolences to the Nigeria Police Force over the loss of the officers, describing their deaths as a painful sacrifice made in the line of duty.

He noted that the policemen had been deployed to the area to support other security agencies in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminality.

Idris assured the bereaved families that the state government would not abandon them, while commiserating with all those who lost loved ones in the attack.

Earlier, DIG Nadada conveyed the Inspector-General of Police’s condolences to the governor, the people of Kebbi State and the families of the deceased officers.

He assured that the police would intensify efforts to track down those responsible for the attack and ensure that they face justice.

The DIG also commended the Kebbi State Government for its sustained support to the police and other security agencies operating in the state.

He disclosed that a new police squadron would soon be established in Kebbi to strengthen security operations and improve the protection of lives and property across the state.

The police delegation visited Kebbi following the killing of the 10 officers and other victims during the fierce confrontation with terrorists at Rafin Makuku in Sakaba Local Government Area.

The development has renewed calls for stronger security operations and closer collaboration among security agencies and the state government to prevent further attacks in the affected communities.
