Dosso Emirate in the Republic of Niger has conferred the traditional title of Sardauna on Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Nasir Idris, in recognition of his meritorious service to humanity.

Presenting the letter of appointment on Thursday in Birnin Kebbi, the Sultan of Dosso, Amadou Sounna Seydou Djermakoye, said the title was in recognition of Gov. Idris’ exceptional merit and service to humanity.

The Sultan lauded the Governor for being alive to leadership responsibilities, especially in delivering the dividends of democracy to his people.

Earlier, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Muhammad Sama’ila-Mera, expressed appreciation to the Sultan of Dosso for the recognition, noting with satisfaction that people from outside the country have recognised the governor’s efforts.

He thanked the Dosso Emirate for finding the governor worthy of the title, adding that the development signified the cordial relationship between the two countries.

In his response, Gov. Idris appreciated and thanked the Dosso Emirate for the decision to confer such a prestigious traditional title on him.

“Despite all the traditional titles conferred on me by different emirates in Nigeria, yet, an emirate from outside the country found me worthy of another title.

“This is a thing of joy. I am very grateful to Dosso Emirate and its people and Niger Republic by extension.

“Nigeria and Niger are twin sisters that nobody can separate,” he stated.

The governor, who promised to do more for his people, also lauded the people of Kebbi State for their support and cooperation with his administration.
