The General Officer Commanding 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Maj.-Gen. W.M. Dangana, has convened a stakeholders’ meeting in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, following a deadly attack that claimed six lives in Lajam village.
The meeting, held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the headquarters of Sector 4, OPEP, Barkin Ladi, was part of renewed efforts by security authorities and community leaders to prevent further escalation of violence in the area.
The attack occurred in Lajam village, Marit District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, leaving six residents dead and several others injured.
The meeting, which commenced at about 11:56 a.m., brought together senior military commanders, local government officials and other key stakeholders from the affected communities.
Among those present were the Commander, 3 Division Garrison, Brig.-Gen. A. Aminu; Commander, 43 Division Engineers, Brig.-Gen. A. Sadiq; and the Chairman of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Barr. Solomon Dalyop Mwantiri.
Security sources said the engagement was convened against the backdrop of continuing tensions and recurring incidents of violence and reprisal attacks in Barkin Ladi and surrounding communities.
The stakeholders reportedly focused discussions on practical measures to strengthen security around vulnerable communities, improve communication between residents and security agencies and prevent further attacks.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for authorities and community representatives to discuss ways of reducing tensions and breaking the cycle of violence that has repeatedly affected communities in the area.
Security authorities are expected to sustain engagement with residents and other stakeholders as part of broader efforts to restore confidence and maintain peace in the affected communities.
The meeting ended peacefully, with no security incident reported.
