Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has declared that significant developments are taking place across the country, suggesting that some Nigerians are failing to recognise the changes under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The First Lady made the remarks while expressing confidence in the direction of the country, using the phrase “Tinubu eyeglasses” to describe what she suggested could help critics see the developments she believes are happening in Nigeria.
“Things are happening in Nigeria, except for those who refuse to see. Maybe we will give them Tinubu eyeglasses,” she said.
Senator Remi Tinubu also spoke about her plans beyond her current role, expressing her desire to leave the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, in 2031 and return to ordinary life.
“I want to leave Aso Rock in 2031 and then walk the streets of Nigeria as a woman in her 70s,” the First Lady stated.
Her remarks have drawn attention to her confidence in the administration’s progress and her stated intention to return to life outside the presidency after the current political cycle.
The comments come amid continuing public debate over the government’s policies, economic reforms and their effects on Nigerians, with supporters and critics holding differing views about the country’s direction.
