A Commissioner of Police has warned residents against selling goods to police officers on credit or lending them money, advising officers who need financial assistance to approach banks for loans.

“Do not sell anything to police officers on credit or lend them money. They should go to the bank and borrow,” the CP told residents of the community.
The police boss said the warning was necessary to prevent financial disputes and strained relationships between police personnel and members of the public.
He urged residents to maintain caution in their financial dealings with officers, while encouraging policemen and women to handle their personal financial obligations responsibly.
The CP also stressed the importance of professionalism and mutual respect between security personnel and the communities they serve.
The unusual warning has generated reactions among residents, with some describing it as a blunt reminder that personal financial challenges should not be transferred to members of the public.
The police chief reiterated that officers should rely on legitimate financial institutions for loans rather than borrowing from residents or obtaining goods on credit.
The statement has since attracted attention across the community, particularly because of its direct message to both police officers and residents.
