The Gombe State Police Command has presented Group Life Assurance and Group Personal Accident cheques totaling ₦14.55 million to 21 families of deceased and injured police officers.
In a statement made available to newsmen by Police public Relation officer Gombe state command stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, made the presentation at the Command Headquarters in Gombe as part of efforts by the Nigeria Police Force to support personnel and their families.
The cheques, valued at ₦14,550,092.10, are intended to provide financial assistance to beneficiaries whose loved ones died or sustained injuries in the course of serving the nation.
Speaking during the presentation, CP Chuso expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and commended them for their courage, resilience and sacrifices.
He urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the funds, stressing that the welfare of serving, retired and deceased police officers and their families remains an important priority of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Commissioner said improved welfare is essential to effective policing and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting police personnel and their families.
The beneficiaries thanked the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, the Nigeria Police Force and the Gombe State Commissioner of Police for the gesture and for recognising the sacrifices made by their loved ones in the service of the nation.
The presentation is part of the Inspector-General of Police’s broader commitment to the welfare and well-being of police personnel and their families.
