MAIDUGURI — The welfare of police officers and improved healthcare delivery took centre stage in Borno State as the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Abdulmajid, paid an unscheduled working visit to Police Hospital Alkome, Maiduguri.
The visit, which took place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, was aimed at assessing the condition of the medical facility, monitoring healthcare services and ensuring that police personnel and other patients receive quality medical attention.
CP Abdulmajid was received by the Doctor-in-Charge/Assistant Commissioner of Police, Medical, ACP Dr. Kadir Akeem, who briefed the police chief on the hospital’s operations, services and ongoing activities.
Moving through various sections of the hospital, the Commissioner personally inspected available medical facilities and interacted with patients, while also engaging medical personnel on the quality of care being delivered.
At the end of the inspection, CP Abdulmajid commended the medical team for what he described as their professionalism, dedication and commitment to patient care.
The Commissioner stressed that “police welfare goes beyond uniforms and operational equipment,” pointing to healthcare as a critical component of the wellbeing and effectiveness of personnel.
He reaffirmed the Command’s determination to promote the welfare of its officers and ensure that healthcare services remain accessible, professional and responsive to the needs of both police personnel and members of the public.
The Command subsequently urged residents of Maiduguri and surrounding communities to make use of Police Hospital Alkome, assuring that the facility is open to the public and committed to providing quality, patient-centred healthcare.
The visit signals a renewed focus on healthcare and staff welfare under CP Abdulmajid’s leadership, with the Command stressing that healthy officers are better positioned to protect the people and maintain security across Borno State.
