A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of a lawyer, Victor Giwa, and a police officer, Edith Erhunmuuse, for failing to appear in court over an alleged ₦300 million property damage and forceful eviction case.
The presiding judge, Samira Bature, gave the order on Friday after granting an application filed by prosecution counsel, Aderonke Imana.
The court heard that both defendants failed to honour their scheduled arraignment, prompting the prosecution to seek their immediate arrest to ensure they face the charges.
The case, which centres on alleged unlawful property damage and eviction valued at ₦300 million, has now taken a dramatic turn with the issuance of the warrant.
Authorities are expected to move swiftly to apprehend the defendants as proceedings continue in the high-profile matter.
