Over 1,000 orphans in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State have received a major boost as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA), Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanchi, provided food and cash assistance to vulnerable families.

The intervention, which took place on Saturday at the Charanchi Local Government Secretariat, was described as a personal initiative by the NSIPA boss to cushion the effects of economic hardship on orphans and their caregivers.

Each beneficiary received a bag of maize and ₦2,000 cash, while the gesture attracted additional donations from other political leaders in the area.

The member representing Charanchi Constituency in the Katsina State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawal Isah Kuraye, contributed ₦1.6 million, while the local government chairman donated another ₦2 million.

The beneficiaries were selected from 141 polling units across the 10 political wards of Charanchi. Ward committees were reportedly constituted to identify, verify and confirm eligible beneficiaries.

Speaking during the distribution, Professor Badamasi reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he and his supporters remained committed to defending the party’s interests.

“We are in the APC, we are working for the APC, and we will continue to work for the APC,” he declared.

He urged residents of Charanchi to continue supporting the APC, saying the party’s administration at the federal and state levels had brought various development initiatives to the people.

Professor Badamasi particularly commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, for their development programmes, saying Charanchi had witnessed considerable progress under the current administration.

The Katsina State APC Chairman, Hon. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, represented by the Katsina Central Zonal Vice Chairman, Alhaji Yahaya Asasanta, described the intervention as a commendable example of grassroots support.

He said initiatives of this nature could strengthen the relationship between political leaders and the people while encouraging greater confidence in the APC ahead of the 2027 elections.

The District Head of Charanchi, Sarkin Shanun Katsina, Alhaji Abashe Abdulkadir, also commended the donors for remembering vulnerable members of the community.

He described caring for orphans as an enduring act of charity and prayed for the continuation of similar gestures.

The traditional ruler also pledged the community’s continued support for President Tinubu, Governor Radda and APC lawmakers.

Representing the Chairman of Charanchi Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Sani, the Vice Chairman, Hon. Aminu Hassan, acknowledged the impact of development projects executed by the Radda administration in the area.

The latest intervention has provided immediate relief to more than 1,000 vulnerable residents while highlighting the growing role of community-based initiatives in supporting families affected by economic hardship.
