Residents living around Wuro Biriji Primary Health Care Centre, near the Wuro Biriji Eid Praying Ground in Gombe metropolis, have appealed to the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL, to urgently repair a solar-powered borehole serving the community.
The residents said the borehole has been out of service for some time, adding that the cost of repairing the facility is beyond the means of many families in the area.
Speaking to News men Abubakar Sani, Musa Ibrahim, Lawal Ahmed, Bashir Usman, Aisha Mohammed and Hauwa Abdullahi said thousands of residents from Hampate, Datkiti and parts of Wuro Biriji rely on the borehole for their daily water needs.
They said the breakdown has forced many residents to spend additional money purchasing water, further increasing the economic burden on families.
The residents therefore appealed to the ACReSAL to intervene by restoring the facility, stressing that access to clean and reliable water is essential to the health and wellbeing of the community.
Our reporter Aliyu Bala Gerengi reports that repairing the borehole would bring relief and put smiles on the faces of thousands of residents, particularly vulnerable members of the community who depend heavily on the facility.
