Borno Holds Financial Management Workshop for Local Government officers

The Borno State Local Government Service Commission, in collaboration with M. Ali Investment Nigeria Limited, has begun a three-day workshop on Financial Management and Accountability for financial officers from the 27 Local Government Areas of the state. The workshop commenced today Wednesday, 1st July 2026 at the BOGIS Conference Hall in Maiduguri.

The event was attended by Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Meleh, alongside the Chairman of the Borno State Local Government Service Commission, Permanent Secretaries, and other key stakeholders. The training is aimed at strengthening financial discipline, plugging revenue leakages, and improving accountability at the grassroots.

A total of 351 financial officers are expected to benefit, with 273 participants from the Northern and Central Senatorial Districts attending the first phase in Maiduguri while the second phase of the workshop for participants from Southern Borno will be held in Biu next week.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Meleh, commended the administration of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and good governance across government institutions.

The Chairman of the Borno State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Modu Alhaji Musa, urged participants to attend all sessions and make the best use of the training.
