Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has officially been named as the gubernatorial flag-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bauchi state ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar was a former governor of the state who exhausted his term tenure between 2015 and 2019 only to have his second in office scuttled in 2019 by the incumbent governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed whose tenure now expiring.

Results of the Bauchi state All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Elections was announced by a Committee Chairman deployed to the stateby the party headquarters, Assistant Inspector General of Police(AIG), John Bassey Abang (retired), who said that the primaries were conducted Saturday, 22nd May, when Abubakar polled polled 57,517 votes to defeat six other aspirants who participated in the exercise.
According to the primary election results, Nura Manu Soro polled 13,638 votes, while former Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, scored 26,001 votes, and Bala Maijama’a A. Wunti, who secured 13,648 votes, and Kabir Baba Maaji, who polled 8,157 votes.
Others who participated in governorship primary elections in the buildup to the 2027 general in Bauchi state under the APC included Baba Abubakar Suleiman who got 7,688 votes, and Yakubu Yakubu Abdullahi with 7,181 votes.
John Bassey Abang while declaring results of the elections, declared Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar as the winner, having scored the highest number of votes cast with a total of 57,517 votes, and was duly returned as the winner of the APC governorship primary election in Bauchi State.
The APC primary elections committee chairman also announced the results of the party’s State House of Assembly primaries which elections, he recalled, was conducted on May 21, 2026
