BANDITS DEALT MAJOR BLOW AS TROOPS BUST SUPPLY NETWORK IN ZAMFAR

….Communication Gadgets, Provisions Seized in Joint Security Operation

By: Abdullahi Inuwa

Security forces have dealt a significant setback to armed bandits in Zamfara State after a joint team of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Police Force and the military intercepted a suspected logistics supplier transporting communication gadgets and other essential provisions to criminal gangs operating around the Bagega axis of Anka Local Government Area.

The operation, described as a major intelligence breakthrough, is expected to cripple one of the supply channels relied upon by bandits to sustain their activities in the troubled area.

Security sources said the suspect was intercepted while allegedly conveying communication devices and other materials believed to be destined for bandit hideouts. The recovered items have been secured as investigations continue.

Experts say dismantling supply networks is one of the most effective strategies in the fight against banditry, as it deprives criminal groups of the equipment, communication links and logistics needed to coordinate attacks and evade security forces.

The latest interception highlights the growing synergy among the NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force and the military, whose intelligence-led operations have continued to target not only armed bandits but also those providing them with logistical support.

Residents have welcomed the development, expressing hope that sustained pressure on suppliers, informants and collaborators will further weaken the criminal networks responsible for repeated attacks on communities across the state.

Security analysts believe that while military offensives remain essential, cutting off the flow of supplies to bandit camps could prove decisive in dismantling their operational structure and reducing their ability to launch coordinated assaults.

The successful operation has drawn praise for the vigilance and professionalism of the security personnel involved, reinforcing calls for continued intelligence sharing and inter-agency collaboration to restore lasting peace in Zamfara and the wider North-West region.

With security agencies tightening the noose around both armed gangs and their support networks, the latest breakthrough offers renewed hope that the campaign against banditry is steadily gaining momentum.
