A notorious bandit kingpin identified as Mahammadu Maha, who has allegedly terrorised communities in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, has reportedly died from injuries sustained during a clash with security forces in Kano State.

Security sources disclosed that the feared criminal leader sustained serious injuries during the encounter and was subsequently moved from his hideout in an attempt to seek medical treatment.

According to the sources, Mahammadu Maha was being transported towards Zamfara State for medical attention when security operatives intercepted the movement, leading to another confrontation.

The sources said the ensuing operation resulted in the death of the bandit leader and some of his loyalists.

His reported death could represent a significant blow to the criminal network allegedly linked to attacks, abductions and other violent activities around Matazu and neighbouring communities.

However, the development has yet to receive official confirmation from the relevant security authorities.

As of the time of filing this report, there was also no known response from associates or members of the bandit group regarding the reported death of their leader.

Security agencies are expected to provide further details as operations against armed criminal groups continue across Katsina, Kano and neighbouring states.
