Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), citing what he described as a heavily manipulated primary election process within the party.
In a statement issued on Monday, Lawal accused the party leadership of conducting primaries that were “massively rigged” to favour former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and his political associates.
The former SGF said the outcome of the exercise undermined the principles of fairness, transparency and internal democracy, alleging that the process had been predetermined to deliver victory to preferred candidates.
