The Nigerian Army has transferred a controversial blogger, Justice Mark Chidiebere—popularly known as Justice Crack—to civil authorities over alleged subversive activities linked to online engagements with military personnel.
In a statement issued by Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army said the move followed ongoing investigations into the blogger’s interactions with some soldiers, which reportedly raised serious concerns within the ranks.
Preliminary findings, according to the Army, suggest that the influencer engaged troops in discussions that allegedly bordered on incitement and attempts to stir discontent, particularly around sensitive issues of welfare and feeding conditions.
“The matter is being investigated for breach of the Armed Forces’ Social Media Policy and an attempt to misinform the public,” the statement noted.
The controversy reportedly escalated after complaints by some soldiers surfaced online, drawing public attention and triggering internal scrutiny by military authorities.
While the affected soldiers are currently in custody, the Army confirmed that the blogger has been handed over to relevant civil authorities for further investigation and possible prosecution.
The military warned that any civilian attempt to influence personnel in ways that could undermine discipline carries serious national security implications, stressing that such actions will not be taken lightly.
Reaffirming its stance, the Nigerian Army emphasized its commitment to due process and the rule of law, pledging continued collaboration with appropriate agencies as the case unfolds.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding national sovereignty within the ambit of the law,” the statement added.
