ANOTHER SHOCKER FOR APC AS EX-MINISTER ALKALI QUITS GOMBE GUBER PRIMARY

Borno State Government

Fresh crisis has hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State as former Minister of Transportation, Saidu Alkali, officially withdrew from the party’s governorship primary over alleged irregularities and violations of electoral laws.

Alkali’s dramatic exit came barely hours after former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami, also pulled out of the race in protest against the conduct of the primary process.

The former transport minister accused party organizers of failing to uphold transparency and fairness, insisting that the process no longer reflected democratic principles expected within the ruling party.

Political observers say the back-to-back withdrawals of two high-profile aspirants have exposed deep cracks within the APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Gombe State.

The development has sparked intense reactions among party loyalists and supporters, with concerns mounting over the credibility of the primary election and its possible impact on party unity in the state.
