The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, has commended the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Edidiong Inyang, for his outstanding support for police operations and his commitment to protecting lives and property.
CP Azare gave the commendation during a thank-you visit to the council chairman, describing his consistent partnership with the Nigeria Police Force as an example of effective cooperation between government and security agencies.
The Commissioner said the chairman’s contribution to security goes beyond financial and logistical assistance, noting that Inyang had repeatedly demonstrated personal commitment to the safety of residents.
According to him, the council chairman has, on several occasions, personally accompanied police personnel to operational locations, a gesture he described as a rare demonstration of leadership and determination to confront security challenges.
CP Azare said such collaboration was vital to effective community policing, stressing that sustainable security could only be achieved when government, security agencies and local communities work together.
The Commissioner’s visit also provided an opportunity for the two officials to review security efforts within Ibesikpo Asutan and reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the existing partnership.
Following the meeting, Chairman Inyang accompanied CP Azare to the Ibesikpo Asutan Divisional Police Station, where they interacted with police officers and inspected facilities at the station.
The inspection further highlighted the importance of ensuring that personnel have the necessary support and working environment to effectively discharge their duties.
In his response, Inyang thanked the Commissioner for the visit and praised his leadership of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.
The council chairman assured the police of his continued cooperation and support, promising to remain actively involved in initiatives aimed at tackling crime and strengthening security across Ibesikpo Asutan and Akwa Ibom State.
He said the council would continue to work closely with security agencies to safeguard residents and protect property.
The visit ended with both sides reaffirming their determination to sustain the partnership and deepen collaborative efforts toward maintaining peace and security in the local government area.
