….Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed reports of a political alliance with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisting that his decision to support the President’s re-election bid should not be interpreted as a deal between them.
Adeleke made the clarification amid growing speculation over his increasingly cordial relationship with Tinubu, despite the two politicians belonging to rival political parties.
The Osun governor’s backing for Tinubu’s re-election has triggered questions about whether the development was the result of a political understanding between both camps.
But Adeleke has rejected such claims, making it clear that his support does not amount to a negotiated alliance.
“No, I never reached an agreement with Mr President,” Adeleke said, distancing himself from reports suggesting that his decision was tied to a political bargain.
The governor and President Tinubu have maintained a relatively warm relationship in recent times, with Adeleke often acknowledging the Federal Government’s interventions in Osun State.
Despite their different political affiliations, the relationship between the two leaders has remained cordial, fuelling speculation about possible political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections.
Adeleke’s latest comments, however, appear aimed at drawing a line between his personal political decision to back Tinubu and any suggestion of a formal alliance or deal.
The development is likely to intensify political debate in Osun, where Adeleke remains a prominent figure and the battle for political dominance is expected to become fiercer as the 2027 elections approach.
