Vice President Kashim Shettima on Thursday formally submitted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s nomination and expression of interest forms to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially signaling the President’s bid for a second term in the 2027 presidential election.
The submission took place at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where top APC leaders, governors, lawmakers, and party officials gathered to endorse the President’s re-election ambition.
Speaking at the event, Shettima urged party members and Nigerians to unite behind Tinubu, saying the President had shown courage and capacity in steering the country through difficult economic and political challenges.
“Through thick and thin, this President has proved his mettle and shown the world that his resolve to pull Nigeria out of the woods remains unfazed,” the Vice President declared.
He said the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda had already begun yielding positive socio-economic results despite tough reforms introduced to stabilise the economy.
According to Shettima, the President’s difficult decisions were necessary to restore confidence, strengthen the economy, and secure a sustainable future for Nigerians.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, also praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing his reforms as bold and necessary steps that have placed Nigeria on the path of recovery and progress.
Similarly, APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said Tinubu’s performance across key sectors justified the party’s support for his re-election.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, assured that APC governors would work tirelessly to ensure Tinubu secures another four-year mandate.
The event was attended by several APC governors, National Assembly members, and members of the party’s National Working Committee, marking what party leaders described as the formal takeoff of Tinubu’s 2027 campaign.
