Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has pledged to mobilise massive support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, urging APC leaders and supporters to intensify grassroots campaigns across the state.
Radda made the pledge on Saturday evening during the inauguration of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council at the newly completed secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State.
The governor declared that his administration would work tirelessly to secure overwhelming votes for Tinubu, citing the president’s longstanding political relationship with Katsina and his contributions to the state’s development.
According to Radda, Tinubu’s longstanding ties with prominent political figures from Katsina, including former President Muhammadu Buhari and the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, reflect a relationship that predates his emergence as Nigeria’s president.
He recalled Tinubu’s political association with the late Yar’Adua during the Social Democratic Party (SDP) era, as well as his enduring alliance with Buhari, describing these historical connections as reasons for Katsina residents to support the president’s second-term ambition.
Radda urged APC stakeholders to take the campaign to every ward, community and polling unit, stressing that the party must translate its political strength into votes at the ballot box.
He maintained that securing victory in the presidential and National Assembly elections would provide the momentum needed to win the governorship and State House of Assembly contests.
The governor also charged party members to highlight the achievements of both the federal and state governments during their campaigns, insisting that the APC had recorded accomplishments capable of attracting public support.
He further urged political appointees, particularly those serving at the federal level, to remain accessible and responsive to the needs of their constituents.
Dangiwa Targets Repeat of 2023 APC Victory
Speaking at the event, Director-General of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Dangiwa, expressed confidence that Katsina would once again deliver a strong electoral performance for the APC.
Dangiwa recalled that Katsina ranked third nationally, behind Lagos and Kano states, in the volume of votes recorded for the party during the 2023 general elections.
He said he was determined to replicate that performance by working with other members of the campaign council to strengthen the party’s appeal across the state’s 34 local government areas.
The campaign director-general pledged that the council would coordinate its activities to ensure that APC candidates at both federal and state levels receive widespread support in the forthcoming elections.
APC Moves to Reconcile Aggrieved Members
Acknowledging internal challenges within the party, Dangiwa disclosed that the campaign council would engage members who were dissatisfied after failing to secure APC tickets during the party’s primaries.
He said reconciliation would be a key priority, noting that resolving grievances and bringing aggrieved members back into the fold would help the party present a united front ahead of the 2027 elections.
The inauguration attracted elected officials and other prominent APC stakeholders, many of whom pledged to intensify mobilisation in their respective wards, communities and local government areas.
The gathering ended with renewed commitments from party leaders and supporters to work towards electoral victories for APC candidates in both state and federal contests in 2027.
