Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has disclosed that the 2027 budget will capture funds to upgrade the Agripreneurship Training Centre in Dutsin-Ma and scale up enrolment from one to three persons per ward, translating to over 1,000 trainees.
The Governor made the disclosure today during a field visit to the centre to assess ongoing training activities and its needs.
Governor Radda said the visit was aimed at evaluating the quality of training and determining the support required to strengthen the institution. He charged trainees to be diligent and courageous, noting that the scheme is designed to create independent agripreneurs who will become employers of labour rather than job seekers.
The Governor assured that the State Government will provide all necessary support to enable trainees to stand on their feet and make the state proud.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture, Alhaji Lawal Zakari Shargelle, urged trainees to appreciate the vision behind the programme, stressing that they were selected to drive change in their communities.
He charged them to change their mindset, acquire skills with dedication and return to their wards to train others and create jobs.
The Commissioner added that beneficiaries who distinguish themselves would become worthy ambassadors of the administration at the grassroots.
The Governor was received by members of the state executive council, the Coordinator of the Agricultural Development Programme, the Chairman of Dutsin-Ma Local Government, the Village Head of Makera, and heads of agencies.
