…. cites experience, infrastructure record, and loyalty to public service

Honourable Usman Mahdi Baderi has congratulated Engineer Mustapha Gubio on obtaining the nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the governorship of Borno State under the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Baderi described the development as a significant step that underscores the vibrancy of internal democracy within the ruling party and the growing interest in sustaining the state’s development trajectory.

He also commended Governor Babagana Umara Zulum for receiving Gubio’s aspiration in good faith, noting that the governor’s response reflects political maturity, tolerance, and a deep commitment to democratic ideals.

Baderi, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Borno State and an indigene of Marte Local Government Area, characterised Gubio as a hardworking, dedicated, and patriotic individual with a consistent record of prioritising the welfare of the people.

He further described him as a calm and peace loving personality who has served with distinction in the administration of Governor Zulum for over seven years, holding key positions across multiple ministries and contributing significantly to the state’s recovery and development efforts.

According to Baderi, Gubio played a vital role in the Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement, where he contributed to rebuilding communities affected by insurgency and strengthening long term stability across the state.

He added that Gubio’s tenure as Commissioner for Works was marked by tangible infrastructural achievements, including the construction of bridges and flyovers within and beyond Maiduguri metropolis. These projects, he noted, have supported the broader vision of modernising and expanding the Borno State capital.

Baderi stated that his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress was informed by the leadership style and governance approach of Governor Zulum, which he said continue to inspire confidence and attract broad based support.

He wished Engineer Gubio success in his political ambition and called on political actors and supporters to uphold peace, unity, and civility throughout the process.
