A wave of economic relief swept across Katsina Central as Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua launched a ₦1.5 billion mega empowerment programme, distributing vehicles, cash, and livelihood tools to thousands of beneficiaries.
The high-profile ceremony at Muhammadu Dikko Stadium saw the rollout of 40 vehicles, five ambulances, ₦150 million in cash support, 410 motorcycles, 200 tricycles, and hundreds of sewing and grinding machines, alongside bicycles and refrigerators.
The intervention spans 11 local government areas, marking one of the largest grassroots empowerment initiatives in the state in recent times.
Speaking at the event, Senator Yar’adua described the programme as a fulfillment of his promise to uplift constituents and tackle economic hardship at the grassroots. He also highlighted his legislative efforts, noting that he has sponsored five bills since assuming office—many targeting security challenges and border-related issues affecting communities like Jibia.
“This is about improving lives and strengthening our communities,” he said, reaffirming his commitment to sustaining such initiatives across the district.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Katsina State, Bashir Gambo Saulawa, hailed the programme as a model of people-focused leadership, urging other politicians to emulate the gesture.
