Youths under the banner of Struggle for Good Governance in Katsina State have taken to the streets to protest against the ongoing economic hardship, insecurity, and poor governance in the country.
Led by Comrade Habibu Ruma, the peaceful protest, tagged “WE ARE HUNGRY AND WE NEED SECURITY TO BE RESTORED,” saw demonstrators carrying placards with messages such as “End Banditry Now,” “Economic Hardship is High,” “Reduce High Cost of Governance,” “Stop the Killings in the North,” “Our Families are Disintegrated,” “Agriculture is Not Possible,” and “Food is Costly.”
Despite no official from the state government being available to receive their letter of demands for the president, the group outlined three key demands for the Federal Government: ending insecurity, alleviating economic hardship, and restoring the fuel subsidy.
The protest began at the Kofar Sauri T-Junction and concluded at the New Katsina Government House.
