DAMATURU — Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd.), Senior Special Assistant to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni on Security Matters, has expressed profound appreciation to the governor for his continued support and commitment to addressing insecurity in Yobe State and the wider Northern Nigeria.
Abdulsalam described the governor’s support for security initiatives as an important contribution to ongoing efforts to protect lives and property, strengthen security operations and promote lasting peace across the state.
He noted that tackling insecurity requires sustained commitment, adequate logistical support, effective intelligence gathering and close collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and local communities.
According to the retired senior military officer, Governor Buni’s willingness to support security-related initiatives demonstrates the importance his administration places on the safety and well-being of the people.
Buni’s Support Strengthens Security Efforts
Abdulsalam acknowledged the role of the Yobe State Government in supporting security operations and providing assistance aimed at improving the capacity of personnel working to safeguard communities.
He said the cooperation between the state government and security agencies remains essential to addressing the security challenges confronting Yobe and other parts of Northern Nigeria.
He stressed that the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities requires a coordinated approach involving federal and state authorities, the military, police, intelligence agencies and community-based security structures.
The security aide noted that sustained government support would help strengthen operational effectiveness and encourage security personnel to remain committed to their responsibility of protecting citizens.
Beyond Yobe: A Northern Nigeria Security Priority
Abdulsalam further emphasised that insecurity in any part of Northern Nigeria requires collective attention, stressing the need for stronger cooperation among neighbouring states and relevant security institutions.
He noted that security threats do not always respect state boundaries, making intelligence sharing, joint operations and coordinated responses important to preventing criminal groups from exploiting gaps between jurisdictions.
He maintained that the experiences and security initiatives in Yobe could contribute to broader regional efforts to promote stability, particularly through improved community engagement and collaboration among security stakeholders.
According to him, lasting peace across the North would require not only military operations but also effective governance, public cooperation and sustained efforts to address the conditions that make communities vulnerable to violence.
Call for Sustained Commitment
The governor’s security adviser also stressed the importance of maintaining support for security personnel, particularly those operating in vulnerable communities and difficult terrains.
He said investments in logistics, mobility, intelligence gathering and operational coordination would remain critical to improving the response to emerging threats.
Abdulsalam encouraged residents to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information about suspicious activities, while urging traditional rulers, religious leaders, youth organisations and community groups to promote peaceful coexistence.
He explained that security was a collective responsibility that required the active participation of government and citizens alike.
Appreciation to Governor Buni
Abdulsalam expressed gratitude to Governor Buni for his continued attention to security matters and support for initiatives aimed at protecting the people of Yobe State.
He acknowledged that addressing insecurity requires consistent leadership, cooperation among stakeholders and a willingness to sustain security interventions over time.
The retired general reiterated the importance of building on existing efforts to consolidate peace, protect communities and create a safer environment for economic activities and social development.
He also called for continued collaboration between the Yobe State Government and security agencies to ensure that efforts to tackle insecurity remain focused on the protection of lives and property.
Abdulsalam maintained that sustained cooperation, responsible leadership and collective action would be essential to achieving lasting peace in Yobe State and contributing to wider security efforts across Northern Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the importance of supporting initiatives that strengthen public safety, promote stability and restore confidence among communities affected by insecurity.
