The Yobe State Executive Council has approved a massive ₦59.8 billion package for critical infrastructure and social services, signaling a major push to boost development across the state.

The decision was reached at a high-level meeting held at the Government House in Damaturu, presided over by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana on behalf of Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Briefing journalists, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, disclosed that the council ratified multiple projects spanning road construction, healthcare, commerce, energy, transport, and sports development—all aimed at improving the lives of residents.

A significant portion of the funds—over ₦34 billion—has been earmarked for road infrastructure, including major highways linking key local government areas to enhance connectivity and economic activities.

In the commerce sector, billions were approved for the construction and upgrade of modern markets, while the energy and transport segment will see investments in power generation, solar street lighting across 11 local government headquarters, and expansion of electricity infrastructure.

Healthcare also received a major boost, with funds allocated for hospital upgrades, construction of new facilities, and procurement of critical medical equipment to strengthen service delivery.

Meanwhile, sports development was not left out, as additional funds were committed to the ongoing reconstruction of the August 27 Stadium in Damaturu.

Officials say the sweeping approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to people-centered governance, infrastructure expansion, and economic growth.

With implementation set to roll out, residents are watching closely as the state embarks on one of its most ambitious spending drives in recent years.
