YBSG to Prioritize Social Support, Community Engagement

The Yobe State Government, under the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni will continue to prioritize social support through empowerment schemes and trainings for youths, women and other segments of the population as part of effort to cushion current socio-economic difficulties that people face across the country.

The Honourable Commissioner for Home Affairs, information and culture Alhaji Abdullahi Bego stated this in a press conference in Damaturu said that, The state government will also prioritize community engagement through local government councils, traditional institutions, and other relevant stakeholders in order to ensure that people across the state are fully informed about government policies and programmes and are carried on board in their implementation.

These are part of the resolutions of a meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni at the Government House, Damaturu with chairmen of local government councils,14 emirs of the state and other senior government officials, including the deputy governor, secretary to the state government, head of service, chief of staff to the governor and some members of the state executive council.

The meeting emphasized the need for local government and traditional councils to continue to attend to local and community issues in a way that strengthens trust, good neighborliness, and community cohesion.

The meeting also stressed the need to provide more avenues for skills and craft training to support young people who want to learn and set up small or medium businesses or go into agriculture and food production.

The meeting also commended the state government for empowerment support to women and youths across the state, especially the recent multi-billion-naira agriculture empowerment programme launched by the President, represented by the Vice President, recently and urged the state government to work to ensure that the items reach the intended beneficiaries across the 17 local government areas.

The meeting also called on people to remain law abiding and to continue to pray to Almighty Allah (SWT) for the security, peace and prosperity of the state and the nation in general.
