Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua, representing Katsina Central Senatorial District, has strengthened power supply at the Katsina General Hospital with the donation and installation of three 30KVA solar-powered mini-grid facilities.
The intervention, carried out last week, targets three critical sections of the hospital — the Laboratory Department, Paediatric Ward and Maternity Ward — with one solar facility installed in each unit.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring that essential medical services continue without disruption, particularly in departments where reliable electricity is crucial for the treatment and care of patients.
Although the Katsina State Government, under Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, had previously connected the hospital to a solar power system, the senator’s intervention is designed to provide additional and dedicated power support to the three critical departments.
With the new facilities, medical personnel are expected to have more reliable electricity for laboratory operations, paediatric care and maternity services, helping to reduce the impact of power interruptions on patients and healthcare delivery.
The project also reflects Senator Yar’adua’s broader focus on constituency interventions, particularly in areas directly affecting the welfare and wellbeing of residents.
By prioritising the Laboratory, Paediatric and Maternity units, the senator’s latest intervention places emphasis on services that directly affect mothers, children and patients requiring timely medical attention.
The gesture has been welcomed by residents and stakeholders in Katsina Central, who described it as another demonstration of the senator’s people-oriented approach to representation.
Supporters of the senator also linked the intervention to the longstanding “Gadon Gida Alala” tradition associated with the Yar’adua family, describing the initiative as part of efforts to sustain a legacy centred on service, compassion and support for the people.
The intervention further complements the Katsina State Government’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and strengthen the delivery of essential services across the state.
