Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has sounded a strong call for unity as the country joins the global community to mark World Malaria Day, urging Nigerians to close ranks in the battle against one of the nation’s deadliest diseases.
In a message themed “United Against Malaria,” the First Lady declared that a malaria-free future is only possible when citizens, institutions, and stakeholders align with a shared purpose.
Reaffirming her commitment to ending the scourge, she stressed the urgency of collective action, calling for stronger partnerships, increased domestic funding, and innovative solutions to tackle emerging threats such as drug resistance.
Tinubu also pushed for intensified prevention strategies, wider access to life-saving interventions, and improved distribution of essential tools—especially for vulnerable communities hardest hit by the disease.
Her message comes amid renewed global focus on malaria elimination, with Nigeria bearing one of the highest burdens worldwide—making unity, she insists, not just ideal, but essential.
