In a bold move, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has thrown its weight behind the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in a nationwide strike.
Announced by ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke, university lecturers across the country have been instructed to join the indefinite strike, commencing June 3, 2024.
This action comes in response to the government’s failure to renegotiate the minimum wage and reverse the electricity tariff hike.
Osodeke’s directive urges all ASUU branches to mobilize their members, amplifying the strike’s impact and sending a clear message of solidarity in the fight for fair wages and affordable utilities.
