The Interim Management Officer of Ungogo Local Government, Alhaji Sani Abdu Ungogo, has inaugurated a new committee dedicated to the distribution of fertilizers and the promotion of a tree planting campaign.
The event whicih was held at the local government secretariat, the Interim Management Officer said that the initiative is aims at supporting the local agriculture and enhance environmental conservation efforts in the region.
Abdu Ungogo further explained that the move is marking a significant step towards sustainable development and agricultural productivity in Ungogo Local Government.
He tasked the committee to ensuring fair and efficient distribution of fertilizers to farmers, alongside encouraging widespread tree planting to combat deforestation and environmental degradation.
The Interim Management Officer emphasized the importance of the initiative for the community’s long-term well-being.
He therefore noted that the committee would focus on educating farmers and schools and community about the benefits of using fertilizers and the critical role of trees in maintaining ecological balance.
In his remarks the chairman of the committee also the vice chairman of the area, Dr murtala Muhammad jibirin said the committee members chose Karo Ward as the launching point for the tree planting campaign in the area.
The head of agricultural and natural resources department, Alh Ibrahim shehu Abubakar said the tree planting campaign will involve the distribution of various tree seedlings to residents and organizations, encouraging widespread participation adding that the effort not only aims to improve the aesthetic value of the area but also to address issues such as soil erosion, air quality improvement, and the provision of shade.
In his speech the District Head of Ungogo, Alh Abdulkadir Ahmed chedi magajin mallam represented by shehu Ahmed Abdulkadir and Director personal management officer Munzali Alhassan assured committed to supporting in addressing agricultural and environmental issues urges all community members to support actively and participate in these efforts, recognizing that sustainable practices are crucial for future generations.
Others members of the committee include Dr murtala Muhammad jibirin as chairman of the committee Ibrahim shehu Abubakar as secretary and as members of the committee.
