Today marked a pivotal moment in international cooperation as the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Her Excellency Amina Mohammed, joined forces with Northern Governors at a high-profile meeting in Washington DC.

The gathering, hosted by the Acting Nigerian Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Uzoma Emenike, saw a convergence of top minds and decision-makers.

Led by the Chairman of the North West Governors Forum and Executive Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, the Northern Governors delegation embarked on discussions aimed at forging robust partnerships and enhancing collaboration across critical sectors.

From connectivity to ICT, energy to food security, education, climate change, and financing, the agenda was comprehensive and forward-looking.

With the United Nations delegation comprising esteemed figures like Mr. Gatete from the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Ms. Damilola representing Sustainable Energy for All, Ms. Ahunna from UNDP, Ms. Laura Jocelyn of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and Mr Samaila Zubairu, President of Africa Finance Corporation, the synergy was palpable.

Governors from Jigawa, Zamfara, Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi, Niger, and Benue states actively engaged in the dialogue, showcasing a collective commitment to address regional challenges and drive socio-economic development.

The meeting not only emphasized collaboration but also underscored the pivotal role of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in shaping a brighter future for all.
