According to the Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relation Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim his command recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing efforts to combat burglary, trespass, theft and other criminal activities in the State, following the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of stolen household properties in Damaturu.
He said, On August 7, 2026, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the B Division, Damaturu, arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary, trespass and theft incident reported at the Red Bricks Housing Estate, Damaturu.
The incident, which occurred about two weeks ago, was promptly reported to the Police. Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police operatives immediately commenced investigation and intelligence-driven efforts, which led to the arrest of the two suspects.
The suspects were subsequently interrogated and confessed to their involvement in the offence. They are:
1. Abubakar Abdullahi, male, 27 years;
2. Ayuba, male, 23 years.
Both suspects are residents of the same address.
Items recovered in connection with the offence include:
1. One 50-inch Samsung Galaxy Smart TV;
2. Three sets of bedsheets with duvets; and
3. One large carpet.
The recovered items have been properly documented and secured in the Police Exhibits Room, while the complainant has identified the items and confirmed ownership.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, PSC, mspsp, SM.ICM, charged officers and men of the Command to remain proactive, respond promptly to distress calls, and sustain intelligence-led policing aimed at preventing and detecting crime.
The Commissioner further reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and ensuring that perpetrators of criminal activities are brought to justice.
The suspects remain in Police custody as investigation continues, with a view to uncovering other aspects of the offence and identifying any possible accomplices.
The Command therefore urges members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the Police or other security agencies. Timely information remains critical to effective crime prevention and public safety.
