Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have rescued two kidnapped victims during a security operation in Bukuyum Local Government Area of Zamfara State, in another breakthrough in the military’s ongoing campaign against armed bandits in the North-West.
Intelligence sources told security analyst Zagazola Makama that the rescue operation was carried out at about 7:50 a.m. on July 29, when troops of the 1 Brigade deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Gwashi launched a tactical operation in Kasahola Village.
According to the sources, the soldiers successfully freed the two victims from captivity without incident during the operation, further underscoring the effectiveness of ongoing intelligence-driven military offensives in the area.
The rescued victims were immediately taken into military custody for safety and are expected to undergo preliminary debriefing before being reunited with their families.
Military sources said the latest success is part of the sustained offensive under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which is focused on dismantling bandit enclaves, rescuing abducted victims, and restoring lasting peace across Zamfara State and other parts of the North-West.
The sources added that troops have intensified intelligence-led patrols, clearance missions, and coordinated security operations aimed at restricting the movement of criminal elements and improving the safety of vulnerable communities.
The military has continued to sustain pressure on bandit groups operating in the region, recording a series of operational gains as security forces deepen efforts to curb kidnapping and other violent crimes.
