Troops Eliminate ISWAP Shura Commander Abu Jirir in Yobe Raid

Borno State Government

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have struck a major blow against insurgency in the North-East, neutralising a high-ranking ISWAP Shura Council member, Abu Jirir, during a targeted operation in Yobe State.

Security sources confirmed that the senior terrorist figure was eliminated in the Babangida axis at about 6:12 p.m. on April 22, following actionable intelligence.

The development is being hailed as a significant disruption to the terrorist group’s leadership structure in the Lake Chad region, where ISWAP has maintained strong operational presence.

In a swift reaction, the group’s overall commander in the Lake Chad axis, identified as Ba Shuwa, reportedly deployed a recovery team to retrieve the body of the slain commander.

The team, seen moving on about 12 motorcycles, was tracked around the Aljanna Jaule area shortly after the operation.

Military sources say exploitation of the operation is ongoing, with expectations of further gains as troops intensify pressure on fleeing insurgents.
