Transition at Governor’s Office: Dr Goje Assumes Office as Ag SSG

The Yobe State Government on Monday witnessed a seamless transition in its administrative leadership as Dr. Mohammed Goje, FRSPH, formally assumed office as the Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG) following a successful handing and taking-over ceremony held at the SSG Conference Room, Governor’s office, Damaturu.

The event, which drew top government functionaries including Honourable commissioners of Health and Humanitarian, has the new SSG stressed the administration’s commitment to continuity, stability, and effective governance under the leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Madu who formally handed over the affairs of the office, pledged on behalf of the management and staff of the SSG office their full cooperation and total support to the new SSG. He assured that the entire workforce remains committed to working collaboratively to ensure the success of the office in delivering on government priorities.

In his taking over remark, Dr. Mohamed Goje expressed profound appreciation to Governor Mai Mala Buni for the confidence reposed in him, describing the appointment as both an honour and a call to higher service.

He emphasized that the Office of the SSG remains the “engine room” of governance, central to policy coordination and effective implementation of government decisions.

Dr. Goje further reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening coordination across ministries, departments, and agencies, enhancing accountability, and ensuring that policies translate into tangible outcomes for the people of Yobe State.

The new SSG further noted that the administration has recorded significant achievements across key sectors, including security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, and agriculture, and pledged to build on these gains through a renewed focus on efficiency and service delivery.

Dr. Goje also paid tribute to his predecessor, Alhaji Baba Mallam Wali, mni, for his distinguished service and remarkable contributions to the advancement of governance in Yobe State and assured that he would build on these achievements to further consolidate the gains recorded under the administration.

The ceremony marks a significant milestone in the consolidation of governance structures in Yobe State, with stakeholders expressing confidence that the new SSG will bring renewed energy, discipline, and strategic direction to the coordination of government activities.

The brief ceremony was also attended by Special Adviser Security, Permanent Secretaries, Senior Government Officials, Family, Friends and Associates of the new SSG.
