The Zamfara State Police Command has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Asbagu Aliyu Muhammad, PSC.
DCP Muhammad reportedly died at about 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, following a brief illness.
His death has sent shockwaves through the command, with colleagues and officers describing his passing as a painful loss to the Nigeria Police Force.
Until his death, the late DCP served as the officer responsible for Operations in the Zamfara State Command, where he was said to have distinguished himself through professionalism, dedication and commitment to duty.
The Zamfara Police Command, in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, said the command received the news with profound sadness and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah.
The Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ahmad Muhammad Bello, PSC+, MNIPS, CCNP, expressed condolences to the deceased’s immediate family, relatives, friends, colleagues and members of the Nigeria Police Force.
CP Bello described the death as an irreparable loss, while praying for strength and comfort for those left behind.
The command announced that the funeral prayer and burial of the late DCP Muhammad would take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Commissioner of Police also prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
He further prayed that Allah grants the family, colleagues and loved ones of the late senior police officer the fortitude to endure the loss.
The statement concluded with the Islamic prayer: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un” — Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.
May the soul of DCP Asbagu Aliyu Muhammad rest in perfect peace.
