Tinubu Orders Arrest, Suspends Three Permanent Secretaries Over Fake Agency

Borno State Government

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the arrest of George Buchi Nwabueze and directed the suspension of three Permanent Secretaries following the discovery of another suspected fake government agency.

The development followed an investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which uncovered alleged irregularities surrounding the operation of the purported agency.

President Tinubu, acting on the findings, ordered security authorities to apprehend Nwabueze for questioning and possible prosecution over his alleged involvement in the scheme.

The President also approved the immediate suspension of three Permanent Secretaries linked to the matter, pending further investigation into their roles and possible administrative breaches.

The latest discovery has raised fresh concerns over the existence of fraudulent entities operating under the guise of government institutions, potentially exploiting the names and structures of legitimate agencies to deceive members of the public.

Sources familiar with the development said the ICPC investigation is expected to establish how the fake agency was created, who authorised or facilitated its activities, and whether public funds or government resources were diverted through its operations.

The President’s directive underscores his administration’s renewed push to strengthen accountability, block institutional loopholes and ensure that public offices are not used as platforms for fraudulent activities.

The affected Permanent Secretaries are expected to face further administrative scrutiny as investigators widen their probe to determine the full extent of the alleged misconduct.

The latest action comes amid growing efforts by the Federal Government to identify and dismantle fraudulent government structures and prosecute individuals found to have abused public institutions for personal gain.

Authorities are expected to provide further details as investigations into the alleged fake agency and the roles of those involved continue.
