IMWON’s Sallah Gesture: Orphans and Widows in Kaduna Receive Food and Clothing Aid
As the Sallah celebration approaches in just a few days, the National President of the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON), Malama Mariya Nasir El-ladan, has taken a compassionate step by distributing food items and new clothes to a significant number of orphans and widows in Kaduna state, located in northwestern Nigeria.
Malama Mariya emphasized that this gesture aims to enable them to celebrate Sallah with joy, happiness, and peace of mind, like any other Muslims celebrating worldwide.

She noted that during such occasions, many orphans and widows often experience distress due to the absence of caregivers, following the loss of breadwinners in their households.
Highlighting the challenges faced by widows, especially during times of heightened expenses and daily struggles,
Mariya stated that the non-governmental organization (NGO) has been diligently cooking and distributing food and beverages to underprivileged Muslims throughout the holy month of Ramadan, at various mosques and gathering places.
In addition to food items, the organization distributed new clothes, including wrappers and rice, to each woman, accompanied by essentials like groundnut oil, Maggi seasoning, and salt.
Mariya further mentioned that similar distributions have taken place in other states across the northern region, ensuring that widows and orphans can celebrate Sallah with new clothes and an ample supply of food, just like their fellow Muslims around the globe.
Expressing their gratitude, some of the recipients, particularly the orphans, thanked the Initiative for Muslim Women of Nigeria (IMWON) and urged other prominent Islamic organizations to also remember them during such occasions.
They extended their blessings to those who extend kindness during times of need.
Maman Abdul, a widow from the Mando community in Igabi local government, Kaduna, conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to the organizers of the event after receiving her gifts from the NGO
She emphasized the critical conditions faced by many widows in caring for their orphans due to prevailing hardships and appealed to affluent individuals to consistently support the less fortunate in society
