By Abdullahi Inuwa
KATSINA – Governor Dikko Umaru Radda has recalled the poor infrastructure and difficult living conditions he encountered in Dabai during his 2023 governorship campaign, saying his administration has since embarked on projects to address some of the challenges facing the community.
Radda spoke when he paid a courtesy visit to the District Head of Dabai, Alhaji Gambo Abdullahi (Dausayin Katsina), ahead of the Tinubu–Dikko 2027 campaign rally in Danja Local Government Area.
The Governor recalled that his first campaign visit to Dabai exposed the deplorable condition of infrastructure, particularly the road linking Chinchirondo to the District Head’s palace.
He said the experience reinforced his administration’s commitment to addressing the needs of ordinary citizens through infrastructure development, grassroots interventions and reforms in traditional institutions.
Among the interventions highlighted by Radda was the construction of the Danja–Dabai Road, alongside the introduction of regular allowances for district and village heads and financial support for traditional institutions.
On security, the Governor acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, traditional rulers and community leaders, stressing that their continued cooperation was essential to protecting lives and property.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to agriculture, livestock development and commerce, describing the sectors as important to improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.
Radda urged traditional rulers to remain active partners in governance by offering advice and communicating the concerns of their subjects to the government.
In his remarks, the District Head of Dabai, Alhaji Gambo Abdullahi, commended the Governor for addressing some of the longstanding development challenges in the area.
He particularly praised the Danja–Dabai Road project, noting that it had improved connectivity and accessibility for residents.
The traditional ruler also welcomed the administration’s Community Development Programme (CDP), which provides ₦10 million to each of the 361 wards in Katsina State for projects selected by communities.
He assured the Governor that local stakeholders would ensure transparency and proper utilisation of the funds for the benefit of residents.
However, Abdullahi appealed to the state government to facilitate the completion of the proposed tomato processing factory in Dabai.
According to him, the facility would provide a ready market for tomato farmers, create employment opportunities and boost agricultural processing in the area.
He further assured the Governor of the continued support and cooperation of traditional rulers and residents in advancing development.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Danja Local Government Area, Hon. Rabo Tambaya, welcomed the Governor and his entourage, commending the administration’s attention to the development needs of Dabai and neighbouring communities.
He pledged the continued cooperation of the local government with the state administration.
Radda was accompanied by Deputy Governor Malam Faruk Lawal, Director-General of the Tinubu–Dikko Campaign Council, Arch. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, Dr. Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, APC State Chairman Dr. Bishir Gambo Saulawa, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, Hon.
