Urges Unity, Responsible Leadership as Dandume Groups Endorse Development Strides
Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has called for stronger collaboration among religious leaders, community groups, traditional institutions and political stakeholders to confront insecurity and accelerate development across the state.
Governor Radda made the appeal on Monday while receiving a delegation comprising members of Gamayyar Kungiyoyin Addinai (Christian Association), Islamic organisations and various community-based groups from Dandume Local Government Area at the Government House in Katsina.
The governor described the visit as a powerful demonstration of unity and collective responsibility, noting that peaceful coexistence remains a critical foundation for sustainable development.
He commended the people of Dandume for fostering harmony among different religious and community groups, saying such cooperation serves as a model for other parts of the state.
“This kind of unity and cooperation is beneficial not only to Dandume but to the entire Katsina State. It strengthens leadership, promotes peace and creates the right environment for development to thrive,” Governor Radda stated.
According to him, genuine progress can only be achieved when communities work together with mutual respect and a shared commitment to the common good.
“When communities unite and work together, development becomes easier and more sustainable. You have set a commendable example worthy of emulation,” he added.
Addressing the persistent security challenges affecting some parts of the state, Governor Radda acknowledged that criminal activities, particularly banditry, continue to pose threats to communities, especially in border areas adjoining neighbouring Kaduna State.
The governor disclosed that his administration remains committed to eliminating insecurity and ensuring that residents can live and conduct their economic activities without fear.
To strengthen local security efforts, he directed the Dandume Security Committee to immediately collaborate with the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs in developing practical and long-term strategies to address emerging threats.
“I am instructing the Dandume Security Committee to work closely with the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs to design and implement lasting solutions,” he said.
Governor Radda also challenged political actors, traditional rulers and community members to play active roles in supporting security agencies, stressing that peace and stability cannot be achieved through government efforts alone.
He warned against actions capable of undermining security operations, noting that some criminal activities are sustained through local support networks.
“All politicians and community members must act responsibly as ambassadors of their communities. Some of these security issues are sustained by local support networks, and that must stop,” the governor cautioned.
The governor further expressed concern over the misuse of social media platforms, saying the spread of false information and unverified reports often fuels tension and complicates ongoing security operations.
He urged residents to verify information before sharing it and to support efforts aimed at promoting peace and social cohesion.
Earlier, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Abdulmutallab Suleiman, said the visit was organised after months of consultations among religious and community leaders in Dandume.
He explained that the delegation came to express appreciation to Governor Radda for the developmental projects being executed in the area, particularly in the sectors of healthcare, education and road infrastructure.
According to him, the administration’s interventions have positively impacted the lives of residents and strengthened confidence in government.
“We are here to sincerely appreciate Your Excellency for the remarkable projects in our community, especially the General Hospital, schools and road networks. We remain fully supportive of your leadership,” he said on behalf of the delegation.
Representatives of various organisations who spoke during the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to promoting peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among residents.
Members of the business community also lauded the governor’s developmental initiatives, describing them as critical investments that would stimulate economic growth and improve living standards in Dandume and surrounding communities.
The meeting was attended by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir; the Commissioner for Health, Hon. Musa Adamu; and other senior government officials.
The gathering ended with renewed assurances of support for the state government’s efforts to strengthen security, promote unity and deliver more developmental projects to communities across Katsina State.
