A new chapter has opened in the career of a promising young football talent from Katsina State as Abdallah Mannir Mannir, a rising star of Katsina Football Academy (KFA), has secured a six-month football trial in Portugal with the possibility of signing a professional contract upon attaining the age of 18.
The breakthrough was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Katsina Football Academy and the member representing Rimi–Charanchi–Batagarawa Federal Constituency, Arch. Murtala Usman Banye, who facilitated the player’s visa and trial arrangements with a Portuguese football club.
Abdallah, a native of Dandagoro in Batagarawa Local Government Area, is expected to depart Nigeria from Lagos on June 28, 2026, to begin what many football enthusiasts describe as a life-changing journey toward professional football in Europe.
Speaking on the development, Arch. Banye said the initiative reflects his commitment to youth empowerment and aligns with the vision of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s administration in creating opportunities for talented young people across Katsina State.
The federal lawmaker noted that investing in sports remains one of the most effective ways of transforming lives, reducing unemployment, and projecting the state’s talents onto the global stage.
He assured that he would continue to partner with Katsina Football Academy and other stakeholders to help talented footballers realize their dreams of playing professionally abroad.
Arch. Banye also called on other members of the National Assembly and political leaders to complement government efforts by supporting gifted youths in their constituencies through sports, education, and vocational development initiatives.
“This is part of our contribution to building a better future for our young people. When talented youths are given opportunities, they become ambassadors of their communities, state, and nation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Director of Katsina Football Academy, Shamsuddeen Ibrahim, expressed confidence in the youngster’s ability to excel during the trial period.
While bidding farewell to the player, Ibrahim urged Abdallah to remain disciplined, focused, and determined throughout his stay in Portugal.
He challenged the young footballer to seize the opportunity by demonstrating the qualities that earned him the chance, with the ultimate goal of securing a permanent contract.
“Abdallah is a talented player with enormous potential. We believe he has what it takes to succeed. Our advice is for him to remain committed, work hard, and make Katsina and Nigeria proud,” Ibrahim stated.
The academy director also commended Arch. Murtala Usman Banye for his unwavering support toward youth development and sports advancement within the constituency.
For Abdallah Mannir, the Portugal trip represents more than just a football trial—it is the realization of a dream nurtured on local pitches in Dandagoro and a gateway to international football.
As anticipation builds ahead of his departure, football followers across Katsina State will be watching closely and hoping that the young talent returns with a professional contract that could inspire countless other aspiring footballers.
