The Nigeria Police Force has taken a bold step toward modern policing and environmental sustainability, unveiling three specialized buses as part of a sweeping transition to green energy.
The vehicles, handed over on April 21, 2026, were donated by the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPF-TF) in partnership with the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (PI-CNG & EV), marking the official launch of the Force’s eco-friendly mobility plan.
Top officials at the ceremony described the initiative as the first phase of a broader strategy to convert the Police operational fleet to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), a move expected to slash fuel costs and reduce environmental impact.
Speaking at the event, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, hailed the partnership as a forward-thinking intervention that aligns the Force with global best practices in logistics, efficiency, and sustainability.
He assured that the newly acquired buses would boost personnel welfare and mobility, while plans to establish in-house conversion centres would empower the Force to independently maintain and upgrade its fleet.
Officials from both partner organisations emphasized that beyond vehicle donations, the collaboration will include capacity building and long-term technical support to ensure seamless adoption of green technology.
The milestone signals a transformative shift within the Police, as it embraces cost-effective, tech-driven, and environmentally friendly solutions to enhance operational readiness in a rapidly evolving landscape.
