The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has applauded security operatives, political stakeholders, and residents for the peaceful conduct of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries held across the state, describing the exercise as a triumph of democracy and civic responsibility.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, praised officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force, sister security agencies, APC stakeholders, and citizens for ensuring a calm and orderly atmosphere throughout the political exercise.
The police boss expressed satisfaction with the level of maturity and discipline displayed by party faithful, supporters, youths, and residents during the primaries, noting that their cooperation contributed significantly to the success of the exercise.
CP Azare also commended the professionalism and resilience of security personnel deployed across the state, stating that strategic operations and coordinated patrols helped prevent any breakdown of law and order.
According to him, the seamless collaboration among various security agencies in Akwa Ibom played a critical role in maintaining peace and safeguarding the democratic process.
“The successful conduct of the primaries clearly demonstrates that the people of Akwa Ibom State remain committed to peace, democratic values, and the continued progress of the state,” the statement noted.
The Commissioner urged political actors and their supporters to sustain the spirit of tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and respect for the rule of law as the political season progresses.
He, however, issued a stern warning against any act capable of inciting violence, intimidation, thuggery, or disruption of public peace, stressing that the Command would not hesitate to take decisive action against violators.
“The Command will deal decisively with anyone attempting to undermine the peace and security of the state in accordance with the law,” he warned.
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command further reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining a secure environment for democratic activities and the protection of lives and property across the state.
