Opposition Mega-Coalition in the Works: Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai Factions Eye Unified Front

A high-stakes opposition alliance is taking shape as key factions from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and Social Democratic Party (SDP) explore a historic merger ahead of 2027.

According to an insider, the coalition will see Atiku Abubakar’s PDP faction, Peter Obi’s LP faction, and Nasir El-Rufai’s SDP working together under an existing registered party. However, if they fail to agree on a shared platform, they plan to rally behind the SDP as their alternative base.
